Here comes Web Directions East 2010

I’m one of the four organisers of Web Directions East, a web-related conference with workshops in Tokyo, and we’re getting pretty excited as we start on the final countdown to November 13-15th. The lineup this year is extra-awesome, and includes a whole new W3C track we’re putting on together with the W3C, in addition to the design/development and marketing tracks. We’ve also got full-day workshops on jQuery, HTML5, CSS3 and mobile web app development — perfect for going from zero to hero in a day.

Of course in addition to local stars we’re flying in some of the web’s best and brightest to speak, and for me the chance to learn from web superheroes like Scott Thomas, Stephanie (Sullivan) Rewis, Jonathan Stark, Paul Irish and the mighty John Resig blows my mind. I’m also really excited to finally get a chance to meet fellow HTML5Doctor author Bruce Lawson. I shudder to think of the mischief he’ll get up to while here though ;)

Even more than learning, the real value of these events is the chance to meet and talk to fellow web workers, both speakers and attendees, and the tsunami of inspiration and passion the event leaves you with. The early bird discount price ends in a couple of days, so check it out soon. You can actually still get the discounted price by signing up for more than one day (e.g. a workshop and the conference).

I hope to see you there!
